SSP blade - proof of concept

From the beginning, it was the objective of SSP to produce solutions for wind turbine blades of the highest quality in order to optimise and ensure reliable operation of the individual wind energy plants.

We are convinced that by implementing our components and developing and optimising processes, better control possibilities can be achieved for installed wind energy plants. In our experience, the individual rotor blades can be manufactured with an accuracy and repeatability which up until now has not been found in aero-elastic components of this size. It was also, and will remain, our aim to reduce the weight of the individual blade.

In 2002, SSP Technology A/S developed an SSP 34-metre rotor blade for installation on tested 1.5 MW plants from which there are documented references. By using a balanced combination of composite materials and adding a hardening process, all of the objectives were achieved.
